Scholé Primum
Primum: (adj) Starting; first things.
Enrollment is now FULL for the 24-25 school year. Head here to get on the wait list!
Our Plan
Saving home time for academics (such as Math and Language Arts), our days together will focus on the enrichment that typically gets skipped in the midst of home days: Nature Study, Habit Training, Spanish, Picture Study, Art, Hymns, Poetry, Composer Study…all things that likely drew you to homeschooling in the first place.
Our goal is to come alongside your family and encourage you and your children to develop a lifelong love of learning, which will give you the confidence to grow with them in what is true, good and beautiful.
In the Scholé Primum setting, we allow parents to *drop-off their students for two hours, then meet us for lunch at 12pm before heading home after co-op. That said, we have a parent rotation to assist for the assigned day. The parent assisting also provides a “Tea Time Treat” (muffins, scones, butter cookies etc.) for the group.
The hope is to offer an on-campus experience once a week, with an optional second day (Fridays) for group hikes, playdates, field trips and alike. In turn, you and your children will develop lasting friendships and the community you long for!
Please join the Facebook group to keep up with outside-of-Scholè playdates, field trips, book clubs for moms and more! This group is NOT exclusive to Scholè families — it’s a private group to meet other like-minded local families.
Hello, and Welcome!
ANNA SLACK
Primum Director
My name is Anna, and I’m a wife and mom of three precious blessings – Luke (8), Ruth (5.5), and Jane (1.5). We've been homeschooling from the start and love it; I truly feel called to homeschool and am passionate about educating myself particularly in the Charlotte Mason method. We’re not purists by any means, but I love her principles.
I specifically enjoy teaching my children how to read well and seeing the fruit from it. We love slow mornings and being outside, as well as spending time with close friends and growing together as we navigate life in community. We’re so excited to grow with everyone this coming year!
Co-op Time Together
When:
Tuesdays from 10:00-12:30 (with an optional lunchtime together afterward)
Where:
111 W. 10th Street, Georgetown, TX 78626 (on the Antioch Church campus)
Who:
Kids ages 5* to 11 (roughly kindergarten through 5th grade)
*younger siblings are welcome to tag along on parent volunteer assistant days only!
A Few Curriculum Details…
For incorporating poetry, literature, and picture study, we’ll use parts of Simply Charlotte Mason’s Enrichment Study, Volume 3.
For history, we'll use A Gentle Feast’s Cycle 4: Modern Times.
For Spanish, we’ll use Charlotte Mason Simple Spanish (note: Mason doesn’t recommend introducing Latin until 5th grade.)
For nature study, we’ll use Simply Charlotte Mason’s Nature Journal in a Year.
For hymnal study, we’ll use Timeless Hymns for Family Worship, by Joni Eareckson Tada.
You’re not required to buy any of these curricula, but it’s encouraged if you'd like to further your enrichment at home.
We have carefully chosen these to align with a classical, Charlotte Mason-y philosophy of education. To learn more about Charlotte Mason herself, we highly recommend starting by reading For the Children’s Sake, by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay.
Enrollment Fees
There is no formal “tuition,” so to keep this as affordable as possible, each family will contribute $100 per enrolled student for the year.
This fee covers costs like location rental and supplies, and to create a fund for additional supplies for those who step in to lead an area (you won't spend your own money on co-op activities).
Our hope is that this leaves room for you to purchase your own homeschool books and curricula. (Please reach out directly to Anna if finances are a hindrance.)
